2019

by Jeremy Paul and Leslie Stewart, music by Keith Strachan.

Venue: The Tindle Studio, Farnham Maltings.

The inaugural production for Key Players was one that was close to Sophie’s heart. Her father, Jeremy Paul, had adapted this version of ‘The Little Match Girl’ for The Orange Tree Theatre in 1977 and she had delighted in going to watch it aged 6.

She set out to put her creative energies into a project that would be a fitting tribute to her inspirational parents. The experience  - watching actors grow in confidence and blossom, watching musicians lose themselves in the music, feeling the camaraderie and support of a close-knit cast, feeling the camaraderie and support of a close-knit community, the generosity of spirit of all who got involved, the joy of a sell-out run and the wonderful audience reactions, all led to the realisation that this was just the start!
