
Sophie Key
Biography
Growing up with an actress mother, a writer father and three
older actress sisters meant that Sophie lived and breathed
theatre throughout her childhood. Her directing debut was
Bouncers whilst at Oxford University, where she also directed
'The Tempest' and 'Shakespeare for Breakfast' for the Edinburgh
Festival. After university she trained for a year as a theatre
director at The Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond. She
created Key Players in 2019, and has adapted, directed and
produced all four of Key Players productions. In 2023 she
became an accredited practitioner in the Gonsalves
Method, which is now being widely taught in drama
schools and universities up and down the country.
She also runs a video and e-learning production
company with her husband Sam, and they have
two grown up children, Abbie and Tom.
